Does my Child Benefit from Speech Therapy?

Your child may benefit from speech therapy if they:

  • Are not talking or using very few words compared to peers their age
  • Have unclear speech that is difficult for others to understand
  • Show a limited vocabulary or struggle to form sentences
  • Find it hard to express needs, wants, or feelings

Common communication concerns in children:

  • Do not consistently respond to their name or simple instructions
  • Have difficulty understanding questions or following directions
  • Rely heavily on gestures instead of words

Early literacy and learning concerns in children:

  • Struggle with listening, comprehension, or storytelling
  • Have difficulty engaging with books, sounds, or early learning activities

Social communication concerns in children:

  • Have trouble interacting with peers or taking turns in conversations
  • Show limited eye contact, joint attention, or play skills
  • Repeat words or phrases without meaningful communication

Why early speech therapy matters:

  • Supports speech clarity, language development, and communication confidence
  • Provides personalised strategies for parents to use at home
  • Helps build a strong foundation for school readiness and social skills

If you’re wondering, “Is my child’s communication development on track?” — you’re not alone. Many parents share the same concern, and it’s completely normal to feel unsure. While some children simply need more time to develop their speech and language skills, it is important to monitor their progress and look out for improvement.

Early support can make a meaningful difference. If you would like reassurance, guidance, or a professional opinion, feel free to reach out — we are here to listen, support, and journey with you and your child every step of the way.
